Hi,

I want to know more about Exchange Online cloud service offered by Office 365.

How it is different from OWA and what more it offers for Emailing?

Also I want to know how can I configure it for a already registered domain and if Yes what will be the Mail flow in that case?

Thanks,

Add new IMAP and SMTP server account to Existing Exchange online account?

$

HI there,

I was wondering if its possible to add an external Mail server to an existing exchange online OWA account?

For example, add gmail IMAP and SMTP server settings to be able to manage and receive emails from both my exchange online account and my gmail account. Like we are able to do in the Outlook Client? I want to be able to send out through Gmail SMTP servers instead of exchange online`s servers for the additional account.

Thank you very much!

2.)3268/TCP (LDAP GC)

3.)88/TCP/UDP (Kerberos)

4.)53/TCP/UDP (DNS)

5.)135/TCP (RPC netlogon)

6.)80/TCP

7.)443/TCP (SSL)

Thanks for the guidance and help.

I'm running the standard cmdlets to connect, then running this line, I receive error below.

Set-Mailbox -Identity pwdreset@xxxxxx.com -Password (ConvertTo-SecureString -String "MyPassword" -AsPlainText -Force)

Recipient "svc_pwdreset" couldn't be read from domain controller "xxxxxx.xxxxx.prod.outlook.com". This may

be due to replication delays. Switching out of Forest mode should allow this operation to complete successfully.

Any feedback would be greatly appreciated, or if additional information is needed.

Thanks in advance!

Microsoft Online Services is unavailable from this site for one of the following reasons:

I've been frequently plagued by the following problem recently:

1. I change my password in the MS Azure portal using IE9

2. After I make this change (at some point later in the day) I try to access http://login.microsoftonline.com/ on IE9 with the same login as the one I use for Azure and I get the following error:

Microsoft Online Services is unavailable from this site for one of the following reasons:
  • This site may be experiencing a problem
  • The site may not be a member of the Windows Live Network

You can:

  • You can sign in or sign up at other Microsoft Online Services sites, or try again later at this site.

The strange thing is that I am able to get into http://login.microsoftonline.com/ using Google Chrome, but with my old password. But after resetting it to be the same as the one I had set it to in Azure I still cannot login to http://login.microsoftonline.com. I still get the same error as above.

Do we really need AD syncronization??

Looking for a little advice in case I am not seeing the full picture.

The Majority of our clients are SMBs of 1-70 users. The majority of them are interested in moving to a Exchange online service, but do not care about the sharepoint or anything else. Is there any reason why we would need to setup AD sync? I understand that AD sync would be useful or even a necessity if they were using services like Lync, SharePoint or Hybrid Exchange but is there any other reason why we would want to setup AD Sync? Thanks all!

Mailbox Migration Question

$

Hi

I have a question in regards to Mailbox Migrations - currently on the very early stages of a design and we have the following challenge

Large Organisation 4,000 -  a small subset of users (90) in this Organisation are separating into a separate Organisation. These Users will still connect to the Main Organisation through Active Directory to access all services except mail. (So there are no changes from a AD domain and user account perspective)

However there is a requirement to move these 90 users from the current Exchange 2007 Environment up to a completely separate and distinct environment in Office 365. There will be no relationship between the main organisations mail environment and the new organisations Office 365 environment.

The approach I am taking is to do an Exchange Cut over Migration - where I will  create 90 new accounts in Office 365 - however the challenge I face is how to I migrate the content of the Users On-Premise Exchange 2007 Mailboxes to Office 365. From reading the following document  http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/jj159539.aspx  - the question I have is willAutodiscovery work and can I add the Main Organisation as an accepted Domain in Office 365 even though there is no DNS or Domain Relationship here.

The only other option I see is export the Mailboxes to PST's and then logging on as the user onto Outlook 2010 and Import the PST's into the Office 365 account -

Many Thanks

Removed move request, unable to start a new request

$

Hi all,

I have a hybrid configuration with Exchange 2010 on-premise and Office 365 in the cloud. I have moved almost all of my mailboxes without any issues. Today I started a new move request for a user, the move request status was queued for several hours and I decided to remove the move request and try again later.

I was able to remove the move request, however now the mailbox seems to be in some sort of limbo state. When I, in EMC, look at the mailbox it has the little green icon on it that indicated it is being moved. But the move request was stopped and removed, so I don't understand why it still shows. In EMC I no longer have the option to create a new local or remote move request for the mailbox, the options are just gone.

Trying to create the move request in PowerShell gives me this error:

New-MoveRequest -Identity user@mydomain.com -Remote -RemoteHostName fqdn.mydomain.com -TargetDeliveryDomain mydomain.com -RemoteCredential $cred -Verbose
Target user 'Users Name' already has a primary mailbox.

    + FullyQualifiedErrorId : D69FD876,Microsoft.Exchange.Management.RecipientTasks.NewMoveRequest

VERBOSE: [13:06:41.368 GMT] New-MoveRequest : Ending processing &

I have tried rebooting the server and restarting the replication services, to no avail. Any ideas on how to solve this so I can move the mailbox to Exchange Online?

Send Email from C# o SQL through Exchange online using TLS

We have Exchange 2010 on Premises and many applicatios use C#, Database Mail or CDOSYS (from SQL using sp_OA... methods) and are planning to move to Exchange Online on Office 365.

We have a 30-day trial environment to try this, but the connection to Exchange Online has to be made using TLS on port 587.

Is there a way to specify these parameters and use Exchange online from C# or directly from SQL. Specially using CDOSYS.

Applying new SMTP domain to on-premises users before moving them to the Exchange Online Cloud Service

$

We just recently upgraded our Exch 2007 servers to Exch 2010 SP2 Rollup 4-v2. We are still working in co-existence

We are going to move about 150 users from on-premises to cloud (exchange online-Office 365) in a few weeks.

We will setup what is known in Office 365 as Split SMTP Namespace Hybrid Deployment where instead of sharing our current email SMTP domain (i.e. @mydomain.com), we will use a new email SMTP domain (i.e. @seconddomain.com)

I have a couple of questions:

Since users to be moved to the cloud need to be able to receive email on the new email addresses (new SMTP domain name) very soon and we have not yet implemented the hybrid setup, we are planning (for now) to create a new Email Address Policy to be applied to these users so we can add the new SMTP domain (@seconddomain.com ) as an additional email address in their current email accounts. Obviously there are other steps involved as creating the new domain name on public DNS, and making sure the new SMTP domain name is configured on Exch 2010 as an Accepted Domain for the organization, etc.

I’m just learning about Exchange Online and from what I’ve been reading so far, it is my understanding that we can add our domain to Office 365 so in our case we could use username@seconddomain.com rather than@domain.onmicrosoft.com. Is this correct?

If this is the case, and we create and apply the new Email Address Policy I mentioned above, I’m assuming we should not have any issues later moving the users from on-premises to the Exchange Online cloud service that have already setup the @seconddomain.com SMTP domain name, right?

Lastly, I know there is a bunch of info online but if someone knows about one or just a few docs you can share explaining how to setup Exch 2010 in hybrid environment, I would appreciate if you can share it

Thanks in advance!

Where did speedtest.microsoftonline.com go?

$

I used speedtest.microsoftonline.com to help my customers assess their network locations when planning global 365 rollouts. It seems that this tool is no longer available.

This one was great as it kept a report at the final URL that I could get after running the tool from a remote workstation. It also did speed, capacity and quality testing for all the services.

Is there a similar tool anywhere?

I'm using outlook 2010 and it says 'connected to microsoft exchange headers'. I think this is giving me a strange thing that searching for emails is only returning emails that I've read.

Migrating emails from Symantec Enterprise Vault to Exchange Online

$

Hi

I am in the process of planning a migration from on-premises Exchange 2010 to Exchange Online in Office 365. The on-premises Exchange environment is using Symantec Enterprise Vault v9 for archiving emails older than a certain number of months.

I am planning to use the cutover migration method to migrate mailboxes to Exchange Online. What is the best way to migrate email from Enterprise Vault to Exchange Online? Will the E-mail Migration Tool in Exchange Control Panel do the job or will a third party tool need to be used?

BlackBerry - duplicate SENT messages

$

Since 5:50 PM October 15th (EDT), some users at my office have reported duplicate SENT item when an email is SENT from/ replied to using Blackberry. As soon an email is replied using Blackberry it creates an entry in Blackberry and a few seconds later a second copy of the email is posted in Blackberry. When we open Outlook, it shows one email in SENT item. This happens when we reply to an email or SEND an email from Blackberry. When we send a message, we get the message posted in Blackberry and a few seconds later a second copy of the message is posted, but the recipient receives only 1 copy.

When using Outlook or OWA to send emails, only 1 email is sent with no additional copies posted in SENT item folder.

It this a known issue experienced by anyone else in Office365?

 Thanks

Sending System Generated SMTP messages to user mailbox

$

Is it possible to configure my IIS based SMTP mail relay to send system generated SMTP messages from my network directly to the Office 365 frontend smart hosts ( Mail.Global.FrontBridge.com) (on port 587)  to deliver to my Office 365 email users? Currently the SMTP mailrelay uses a valid user ID to login to the Office 365 network to deliver SMTP messages.  I am trying to get around the Office 365 based 1500 email SEND limit per mailbox. I will add the IP address of the Mailrelay to the safe sender list. The SEND limit per mailbox in Office 365  has caused major disruption with system alert management, on-premises Sharepoint Blog alerts routing, workflow emails for approvals, business report distribution to name a few.

Thanks

Migrating Exchange 2010 mailboxes over a slow connection

$

Hi,

We have Exchange 2010 SP1 (about 50 active users) all together about 150 GB of data.  using speedtest, I see our upload speed is ~2.5 Mbps.  Using "File Transfer Time - Data Transfer Speed Calculator" it seems like the transfer will take 7 days.  I'm planning for a cutover migration this weekend (Dec 23-25)

I'm trying to understand the following:

1)  Can I use "Active Directory Sync" with cutover migration?  I want to preserve my mailboxes and such...  I'm not interested in SSO.

2)  What should I do with "Disabled" Mailboxes?  convert to .pst and delete the mailboxes?

3) If a user has 5GB of data, after the migration, a new profile needs to be setup, (the OST is gone), and that 5GB will have to be downloaded again to the new profile?

4) Can I start the mailbox migration now for people that are on vacation?  using AD Sync or just by creating new user account and using pst?

5) Aside of informing the users to clean out their mailboxes (or getting faster provider) any other tips to speed it up?

sorry for all these questions, I appreciate your input and clarification!
